Buy to Let Club is undoubtedly leading the way when it comes to specialist buy to let knowledge and for that reason alone is the first port of call for many brokers when faced with a non-standard buy to let case. However, we are so much more than that. The support that we offer our members through our friendly and knowledgeable helpdesk covers buy to let, residential, short-term finance/bridging and commercial mortgages. Our packaging service is second to none.
Over the last twelve months Buy to Let Club has doubled in size recruiting additional Telephone BDMs and support staff to deal with an increase in business whilst building upon our fantastic service. Club membership has increased by 32% and it is notable that this is organic growth. We do not market our services externally to attract new members – our growth is all down to reputation and word of mouth.
Throughout our expansion, our members have remained firmly at the heart of our strategy. By increasing the number of Telephone BDMs we have ensured that each manages a smaller database of members and is better able to develop supportive relationships. This includes proactive contact by both phone and email. We tailor the support provided to our individual members’ needs – we get to know them and their requirements personally.
We have expanded our lender panel to include those able to meet our members’ more complex and specialist needs, as well as supporting established lenders who have chosen to expand their proposition. Half of our new lenders have a strong residential focus. Despite our buy to let specialism, 32% of our business so far in 2018 has been residential as our proposition expands.
This year has seen us offer members market-leading exclusive products, but also innovative ones. We work closely with lenders to develop and pilot new products and have recently trialled a low rate, high fee product with a specialist lender for clients who want to use current tax benefits, for example.
We take our role as educator extremely seriously. This year we have held eight Broker Events to help guide our members through the increasingly complex buy to let and residential landscape and provide them with access to leading industry figures.
Internally, we’ve worked hard this year to overhaul our systems and processes with a view to improving our operational efficiency. An example of this includes our new accounting processes facilitating the payment of proc fees. We have welcomed an ever-growing number of underwriters on-site and our broker support team has benefitted from underwriter training in order to further improve the quality of our packaging support.
